How to Iron Shirts Like My Mom Did

Yep – we still iron at our house – and always have. In this video, I show how my dear Mom taught me this ‘art’. From our days at college and all through the years that my hubby worked, he went dressed well in an ironed shirt. Only during some of my most crazy shop ownership years did he take his shirts to be ‘laundered’ and heavily starched.
I'm in the midst of what I refer to as the seasonal 'Clothes Switcheroo'—transitioning from fall/winter to spring/summer attire and refreshing our clothes for the warmer months. While ironing (just a few select) shirts for my husband this year, I recalled that I recorded this video a long time ago and thought it was time to bring it out from the depths of my blog records.
I just wish when men are in front of groups that they'd at least present themselves with an ironed shirt - just my humble (grey-haired) opinion!
Sadly, the Oliso with 'feet' is no longer available. My current iron of choice is a Black & Decker. I got it off Amazon... I especially like the point of this iron. It does drink LOTS or water - and tap water at that.
If you sew, and use fusibles of ANY type (which I sure do!), you also need to have handy:
Iron Clean AND some doubled up paper towels.

Sew... there you have it - at least one way that has worked for our family for YEARS - to iron a shirt!
