I'm a SEW-IN Interfacing Fan

Writer's picture: LondaLonda

This did it! Although I've used and recommended some very select fusible interfacings,

hands-down, for a machine and dry garment, I will ALWAYS USE A SEW-IN Interfacing!

My favorite is this 'Soft Woven Sew-In Interfacing' from Bosal. 20" wide (which makes me sad, but that's just what is available). I know at $7.50/yard, it seems extravagant, but Interfacing is truly the BONES of a garment - TRULY!!!!

I just got a good deal on a bolt...... SEW, along with this Blog Post and Newsletter, I'm able to put a sale price on it of $6.95/yard. Order your 3 yards HERE. OR - click on the close-up image below.

I recommend purchasing THREE YARDS. If you carefully cut it and save scraps, you'll be surprised how long it will last you.

PRESHRINK IT by throwing in the washer and dryer....

BEFORE it EVER gets to your sewing 'stash'.

Here's my latest 'proof'/ experience that has led to this Blog Post:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this top I created from very fine quality men's shirting fabrics using Marcy Tilton's Vogue 1784. I just checked, and it is no longer available at Vogue Patterns, though you can find some for a good price at Etsy HERE.

BUT - Look Closely! AND, I just STEAM PrESSED this with LOTS of muscle. That makes me not want to wear it.... sad!

Honestly, I obey my own admonitions.... I ALWAYS PRESHRINK INTERFACINGS - EVEN FUSIBLES (by soaking in a sink of HOT water til cool, rolling in a towel, and LAYING out to dry). However the machine care of this top continuously yields these results.... ugh!!!

I just utilized this same pattern for my current obsession: designing and sewing a line of one-of-a-kind USA Patriotic Tops (and, yes, including TRUMP ones).

Please don't write to me that you object to 'politics' in my sewing blogs - just don't read them if I 'offend you. I'm a strong-willed very Senior citizen, and a Trump fan, plus I'm a coach for Patriot Academy www.patriotacademy.com, and helped start and continue to spend many hours weekly leading a local Christian Patriot Group: We the People of West TN. I truly believe our country is in BIG trouble if we continue down the progressive path on which we are on. We MUST learn and return to our founding principles based on Biblical principles as expressed in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Enough said..... BACK TO SEWING INFO:

Here's my 'Tilton' Shirt using the same pattern as my 'inspiration', and utilizing - UP-cycling 3 men's shirts I invested in for $7.99 a piece at the local thrift shop.....

Look closely at how UN-Bubbled and CRISP this collar and center fronts look! I used the Bosal Soft SEW_IN WOVEN Interfacing as referred to above.

I have recorded a pretty good (I think) Video on selecting and using INTERFACING.... watch it here.

Have a topic you need help with that I have NOT covered on my You-Tube Channel? Just email me with your Video Suggestion and I'll consider doing a video. At this point I think I have covered everything that is in my sewing 'brain'.... londasews@gmail.com

And... I also put everything you saw in the video above into a DOCUMENT called INTERFACING DE-MYSTIFIED that you can order and download. Find that HERE.

I am continuing my Inventory CLOSE-OUT!

  • I have only 6 of my DVDs on Sewing on Knits.... Click HERE.

  • While I am trying my VERY best to keep all inventory accurate, I also have sewing students purchasing from my stock, so please understand I might not have what you order. If that is the case, please know I'll immediately get back to you and refund you accordingly....

EVERY ORDER will AUTOMATICALLY come with these THREE FREEBIES

Have fun Shopping! I know ya'll sew, but at the VERY LOW prices I"ve put on my recent Patriotic Top obsession, you just might want to treat yourself for the upcoming election season!

OR... share this with your non-sewing friends!

That's it for this month's newsletter and Blog Post. If you EVER have a sewing question, please email me: londasews@gmail.com. I LOVE to chat with customers and to help you out however I might be able to....

Happy Sewing!
